


Every other year, the Folk Art Alliance at the Walk In Art Center celebrates regional folk arts with Folk Fest, a bi-annual event with art vendors & demonstrations, and musical performances! The Schuylkill County Quilter's Guild's "Quilt Spectacular" will inhabit the Main Gallery on September 6 & 7, so visit the amazing exhibition while you are here!

The Shenandoah All-Star Polka Band is a high-energy polka band from Shenandoah, Pennsylvania, known for their lively performances and eclectic blend of traditional and modern polka music with a dash of rock, pop, and country influences.
The O'Henrys are an acoustic trio that draws from a broad spectrum of old-time, bluegrass, folk and celtic music. It includes Henry Koretzky from Harrisburg, who plays mandolin, guitar and hammered dulcimer, and is a former member of groups such as High Strung, Cornerstone, the Harrisburg Mandolin Ensemble and Sweetwater Reunion. He is joined by singer/guitarist Mike Henry from Littlestown, who has an extensive background in bluegrass and Irish music, and Reading-based bassist Aaron Blouin.

The History:
NorthEastern Pennsylvania's contemporary culture has been formed by it's original inhabitants and the waves of diverse immigrant populations that migrated here in the 1700's for opportunities to work in the coal mines. The diverse cultures together created shared American culture, unique to eastern Pennsylvania.
